Dear KCBA Member:
Do your clients and friends always rely upon you as their primary source of information about judicial candidates at election time? Now you can help them more than ever by putting an excellent new voter education tool into their hands.
I am pleased to announce that KCBA, along with several other bar associations and citizen groups,* has launched a website with information for voters on Washington Supreme Court and Court of Appeals elections: The website address is www.VotingforJudges.org.
I invite you to take a few minutes right now to visit www.VotingforJudges.org. It puts at voters’ fingertips the judicial candidates’ biographies, bar and civic organizations’ ratings, newspaper and organizational endorsements, links to major newspaper stories about the races, Public Disclosure Commission contribution records for each campaign, and links to the judicial candidates’ own campaign websites.
www.VotingforJudges.org is a user-friendly, neutral website. No candidate is favored over another and ratings and endorsements by diverse groups are provided. The goal is to provide a wide range of information so that voters can make their own decisions.
Appellate judicial elections are simply too important for voters to be left uninformed when they cast their votes. www.VotingforJudges.org has tremendous potential to help our citizens vote for judges on a more informed basis and thereby improve the public’s confidence in our courts.
Please tell your clients and friends about www.VotingforJudges.org and email the website link to as many people as possible before August 30, when ballots will be mailed for the primary election. Thank you!
John Ruhl, President
