KCBA NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS PROCESS 2007-2008
The KCBA Nominating Committee will be chaired in 2007-2008 by immediate past-president John Ruhl.
Please email him at jruhl@eisenhowerlaw.com or Kathleen Jensen at KathleenJ@KCBA.org to suggest KCBA members whom you believe to be good leaders for Trustee and Officer positions to be vacated June 30, 2008. Those positions will be:
- Two Central District Trustee positions (2 nominees for each)
- One East District Trustee position (2 nominees)
- One South District Trustee position (2 nominees)
- One Secretary/Trustee position (2 nominees)
- One Second Vice-President position (2 nominees)
The Nominating Committee will begin meeting December 2007, and will submit a report to the Board of Trustees on February 20, 2008.
The Nominating Committee seeks broad diversity for the Board of Trustees and Officers, including ethnicity, gender, practice area, firm size, and geographic diversity.
Nominees must be members in good standing of the KCBA. (Staff will confirm that eligibility from names presented.) All positions have three year terms, beginning July 1. Expectations for KCBA Officers and Trustees can be found at Expectations.
Bylaws provide that there must be at least two nominees for each vacancy. The bylaws also require a succession to the Presidency. The successful candidate for Second Vice-President becomes the sole nominee the following year for First Vice-President. The First Vice-President becomes the sole nominee for President the following year.
Ballots will be mailed to members on or about April 10, 2008, and must be returned by 5 PM on Friday, May 2, 2008, for canvass on Thursday, May 5, 2008. New terms begin July 1, 2008.
