Family Law
Our Family Law programs include the
Family Law Mentor Program
, the
Self Help-Plus Program
and the
Kinship Care Solutions Project
. These programs assist clients with the following legal issues: contested dissolutions, parentage cases and petitions to establish parenting plans
where children are at risk, noncontested dissolutions and petitions to establish a parenting plan, and nonparental custody (third party custody) cases.
Community Services
Community Services includes the Neighborhood Legal Clinics (NLC) and Volunteer Legal Services (VLS). NLC offers individuals a free 30 minute consultation with an attorney. Attorneys determine whether the client has a legal problem, suggest possible options, and provide appropriate referrals.
Volunteer Legal Services
(VLS) offers eligible clients direct representation with the following civil legal issues: Chapter 7 bankruptcy, vacating criminal records, SSI/SSDI overpayments, estate planning, and debt defense.
Housing Justice Project
The Housing Justice Project (HJP) provides free legal help to eligible low-income tenants in King County facing eviction. HJP clinics operate Monday - Friday 8:00 - 10:30 a.m. in the mornings at the Seattle King County Courthouse and the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. HJP also operates an evening clinic Mondays 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Seattle King County Courthouse.
