The  King County Bar Association Pro Bono Services department works with over 1300 volunteer attorneys, paralegals, law students and community members to provide free legal assistance for low income King County residents. Select a link below to learn more.
 
 
 
 

Make Change! Debt Education Workshop
Make Change! is a free debt education workshop which informs people about the legal issues surrounding debt and bankruptcy.

Neighborhood Legal Clinics offer free 30-minute consultations with a volunteer attorney. Attorneys determine the civil legal issue, suggest options, and provide appropriate referrals. Learn more.

Volunteer Legal Services provides direct representation for civil legal issues including Chapter 7 bankruptcy, debt defense, estate planning, landlord/tenant issues, SSI/SSDI overpayments and vacating criminal records. Learn how to access Volunteer Legal Services here.

Neighborhood Legal Clinics offer free 30-minute consultations with a volunteer attorney. Attorneys determine the civil legal issue, suggest options, and provide appropriate referrals. Learn more.

Family Law

Family Law Mentor Program assists low-income King County residents who are married or unmarried parents with contested family law cases (dissolution, petitions to establish a parenting plan, or paternity cases) where children are at risk due to domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, or alcohol/drug abuse. Kinship Care Solutions Project provides free legal representation for relatives and other caregivers seeking custody (also known as third party custody) of a child/children through a panel of volunteer attorneys. For more information on how to access the Kinship Care Solutions Project, click here.

Self Help-Plus Program assists clients in non-contested marriage dissolutions (divorces that are agreed or in which the other party will not respond). As well as clients who need to establish a parenting plan and child support in non-contested cases when the father has already been determined. Housing

Housing Justice Project provides free legal help to eligible low-income tenants facing eviction. HJP clinics meet Monday - Friday in the mornings at the Seattle King County Courthouse and the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. HJP also offers a clinic on Monday evenings at the Seattle King County Courthouse. For more information on how to access the Housing Justice Project, click here.
