Breakfast With Champions 2010

Thomas A. Daschle to Keynote 10th Annual Breakfast With Champions

The King County Bar Foundation’s annual fundraising breakfast, Breakfast With Champions will feature former Senate Majority Leader Thomas A. Daschle on March 10, 2010 at the Sheraton Seattle hotel beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Breakfast With Champions recognizes the work of individuals dedicated to justice and diversity. Funds raised at the Breakfast support pro bono legal services delivered to individuals in King County who are the neediest and least served – the homeless, immigrants, frail, abused, and disenfranchised. The Breakfast also recognizes that every member of our society, regardless of race or ethnicity, must have a stake in our legal system. Breakfast contributions also support KCBF’s Minority Law Student Scholarship program. KCBF is one of the largest providers of minority scholarships to law students in the state and is dedicated to expanding opportunities with the law for people of color.

Thomas Daschle is one of the most influential men in Washington today. His recent book, Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis is the pattern for President Obama’s health care plan. He has developed a legacy as a dynamic party leader, a champion of bipartisanship, and an advocate for the common man.

Last year, the Breakfast raised over $200,000, and those funds helped KCBF assist 10,407 low-income people with over $7.4 million worth of volunteer legal services. KCBF also distributed $112, 500 in minority law student scholarships to the University of Washington and Seattle University Schools of Law. Despite our successes, the unmet need for legal services and the need to enhance diversity in the legal profession remain substantial, especially in the current financial climate. KCBF will ask the 1,000 guests, who are expected to attend, to make financial contributions in support of pro bono legal services and diversity.
