King County Superior Court would like to cordially invite and welcome young lawyers and summer law clerks to observe the operations of the downtown Seattle King County Courthouse and the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent on Wednesday, June 25. On that day, a special tour of the Superior Court operations at each courthouse will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for pre-registered guests.
These tours will include a visit to the Jury Department with an opportunity to sit through “juror orientation,” review of the operations of the Ex Parte and Family Law departments, the Criminal Presiding Department and the Clerk’s Office, and then later opportunities to sit in on ongoing criminal and civil jury trials. There also will be an opportunity to ask questions and meet with the presiding judge. A schedule will be available upon arrival.
If you would like to participate in this event at the downtown Seattle Courthouse, please email Presiding Judge Bruce Hilyer’s bailiff, Lee Walters, at lee.walters@kingcounty.gov to RSVP. For the tour at the Regional Justice Center, please send an email to Court Operations Manager Sandra Ogilvie at sandra.ogilvie@kingcounty.gov. The number of attendees will be restricted due to space limitations inside the courtrooms.
If you have any questions regarding this new opportunity to see the courts, please call Lee Walters at 206-296-9096 or Sandra Ogilvie at 206-205-2588.
