John McKay, former U.S. attorney and current Seattle University School of Law professor, will appear at a May 21 fundraiser for the Seattle Union Gospel Mission to speak about his experiences promoting legal services for low-income people living in Seattle and how the Mission is helping to meet those needs.
The event will raise funds for Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission’s Legal Services Department, which helps to serve the legal needs of homeless individuals in the community.
The fundraiser, entitled “Takin’ it to the Streets,” will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at 721 Pine Street in Seattle. Tickets are $75 with breakfast included.
The Mission’s Legal Services Department provides free legal advice, representation and referral services to homeless individuals on a variety of legal issues, including identification and re-licensing, help clearing criminal warrants and fines, and family law matters.
For more information about the event or how to get involved, contact David Mace, director of the Mission’s Legal Services Department, at 206-682-4642 or go to www.ugm.org.
