More than 150 participants took part in the 2nd annual King County Bar Association 5K Fun Run & Walk held at Seward Park on Sunday, March 2. Once again, unseasonably dry conditions welcomed runners and walkers to the 1.5-mile loop course along Lake Washington.
Entrants included many local attorneys and legal support staff, as well as friends, family and also a few dogs. The atmosphere was positive with lots of good humor all around. Runner George Lundin summed up the run as being “a lot of fun.”
Seth Berntsen, of Garvey Schubert Barer, but running for the Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt team, was the first male finisher and the fastest finisher overall with a time of 17:01. Nikki Gamble, a first-year law student at Seattle University, was the female winner with a time of 19:00.
For the first time, this year’s Fun Run also featured awards for Largest Team and Best Team Uniform. Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt’s team of 26 runners won the trophy for the Largest Team. The green-caped and black-eye-mask clad team from KCBA Community Legal Services (pictured above) captured the trophy for Best Team Uniform.
The run was co-sponsored by Navigant Consulting, Inc., Robert Half Legal, Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt, Copiers Northwest, and Dorsey & Whitney LLP. In-kind sponsors included Odwalla, RoadID.com, Sound Legal Copy, and Speckman Law Group PLLC. All Fun Run proceeds will go toward supporting various KCBA programs that help to benefit the community and KCBA membership.
The run was organized by the KCBA YLD Community Involvement Committee, which wishes to express its thanks to all those who supported and participated in this year’s Fun Run & Walk.
