Judicial Screening Committee: Rates candidates for appointment or election to Municipal, District, Superior Courts; and to State Appellate Courts for contested elections. A three-year commitment is requested, as well as a commitment to participate in a minimum of 4 ratings sessions per year (usually half day). Committee members may not become a judicial candidate, nor support, contribute or participate in any judicial campaign, for one full year after leaving the committee.

Activities: New (and returning) members attend an orientation session and an observation session before participating in screening meeting as a voting member. Daylong meetings take place as needed to screen 2-4 candidates for election or appointment. Committee members interview references prior to the screening session.

Committee Chairpersons: Leadership consists of six individuals serving a 3-year progression as Co-Assistant Chair, Co-Chair, and past Co-Chair. Members are appointed to staggered 3-year terms, with 1/3 of the members of the members leaving the committee each year. The committee includes both attorney and lay members. Membership terms run from October 1 through September 30th.
