Washington State Supreme Court

As the highest level of court in Washington, the mission of the Washington Supreme Court is to protect the liberties guaranteed
by the constitution and laws of the state of Washington and the United States; impartially uphold and interpret the law; and provide
open, just, and timely resolution of all matters. The nine justices are elected statewide to six year terms. Three of the justices
are standing for reelection in November, but only one seat is contested. Join us and meet the two candidates for Position 6, Richard
Sanders and Charlie Wiggins.

King County District Court

The King County District Court is the largest county court of limited jurisdiction in the state of Washington and is currently responsible
for processing approximately a quarter of a million matters per year. Among the types of cases heard are civil litigation matters up to
$75,000, small claims matters up to $5,000, anti-harassment orders, domestic violence protection orders, and misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor
criminal cases. Twenty-five judges are elected from one of five county geographical districts, all standing for election every four years.
Six positions are contested on the November ballot, and all twelve candidates will appear at this event.

Seattle Municipal Court

The Municipal Court of Seattle is the largest municipal level limited jurisdiction court in Washington with eight elected Judges and five
appointed Magistrates. The Court adjudicates all misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes, infractions, and civil violations authorized under
the Seattle Municipal Code and other Washington Statutes. Civil offenses are heard by the Court when the City of Seattle seeks enforcement
of its fire code, housing, and city ordinance violations. Seven municipal judge positions have been approved for the next term. Two of those
positions are contested on the ballot and the four candidates will participate in this event.
