On March 1st, the Washington Senate passed SB 5336, which would establish a domestic partnership registry. The House is expected to pass the bill and Governor Christine Gregoire has indicated that she will sign it. The new law will provide same-sex couples that register as domestic partners with critical legal protections under Washington state law. However, the new law is likely to raise as many questions as it answers.

Attorney Elizabeth A. Hershman-Greven of the family law firm McKinley Irvin, PLLC will discuss the new legislation, its potential impact on the practice of family law in Washington, and its place among evolving legal and social trends. Attendees of this 1 ½ hour CLE will come away with a detailed understanding of the new law, how it will affect the representation of same-sex couples and their families, and the steps practitioners may need to take to ensure their clients interests are adequately protected.

    Registration Fees:

QLaw or KCBA Family Law Section Members: $50
    KCBA General Members: $55
    Non-Members $60
