THIS PROGRAM IS SOLD OUT!

    Wednesday, October 11, 2006
Rainier Square Conference Center, 1301 Fifth Avenue, 3rd Floor Atrium, Seattle (between 4th & 5th; between Union & University)

"The standard of care imposing liability on lawyers for legal malpractice is changing owing to the increasing use of computers. Internet accessibility is about to profoundly change our research obligations…vast amounts of information are readily available to everyone, including courts and clients…." ABA GP Solo Newsletter.

Effective Internet searching is now part of every lawyer’s due diligence obligation. In one recent decision, the court was incredulous that Plaintiff failed to "google" the missing defendant as part of his due diligence process and upheld the defendant’s claim of insufficient service of process.

At this seminar, you will learn to do more than "google” as Carol Levitt and Mark Rosch introduce you to numerous research strategies that will assist you in meeting your investigative and legal research obligations. Your clients can "google" on their own. They pay you for more in-depth, professional level research results. This seminar will teach you how to find the information to do just that - fast and free on the Net!

Today's professional level legal research goes way beyond cases and statutes that your clients can now access for free on the net. Futhermore, today's professional level legal research requires more than simply relying on the results returned by popular search engines. At this seminar, you will learn how to produce real results for your clients in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.

Nationally recognized Internet Trainers, and ABA Authors of “The Cybersleuth's Guide to the Internet," Carole Levitt Esq. and Mark Rosch, will show you how to be your own detective and unearth factual information FREE (or sometimes at low cost!) on the Net. Instead of wasting time and money on experts, consultants, skip tracers and private investigators, you will quickly learn the most effective search strategies to conduct your own professional level fact finding on the Internet.

    Registration Fees

KCBA Pillar of the Bar Member     $169
    KCBA General Member Attorneys     $179
    Non-Member Attorneys     $199
    Paralegals, Students & Non-Attorneys     $159

Rainier Square Conference Center, 1301 Fifth Avenue, 3rd Floor Atrium, Seattle (between 4th & 5th; between Union & University)

Employment lawyers and human resource professionals often need to conduct internal investigations of employee harassment, discrimination, and other complaints. These investigations can be complex and difficult in both legal and human terms. In this intermediate to advanced level seminar, experts in internal EEO investigations will provide in-depth legal and practical information on a wide range of investigative challenges and issues. There will also be plenty of time for interaction between the faculty and participants including an interactive training session using a hypothetical fact situation. Among the topics that will be covered are:

    • How major new state and federal court cases affect investigations.
    • Investigative challenges: credibility determinations, working with unions, in-house vs. outside investigators, witness statements and tape recordings, cross-cultural investigations, disclosure of investigation results, aftermath issues, and more.
    • Writing quality investigative reports.

Great! Adverse Depositions and Attacking the Expert’s Opinion

Featuring highly acclaimed teacher of deposition cross-examination skills,
Robert Musante

Click here to view the conference brochure in PDF

Monday, October 30 and Tuesday October 31, 2006
Rainier Square Conference Center, 1301 Fifth Avenue, 3rd Floor Atrium, Seattle, Washington

Register for one day or register for both days

    Registration 8:00 am
    Program 8:30 am - 4:30pm

The quality of depositions in any case most often determines the outcome of that case. Yet the vast majority of litigators take mediocre depositions their entire careers because, frankly, their training in that crucial skill consists of simple observation of more "experienced" litigators, who themselves had little or no strategic deposition skills training either.

High-quality adverse depositions require the conscious and conscientious application of an integrated set of logical cross-examination rules. This seminar wastes no time on entry-level "wisdom," code chatter, idiosyncratic war stories, or tired maxims. Instead, it teaches the actual mechanics of how to take adverse depositions as never before ... the one, right, logical way: as an intellectually, rigorous discipline.

Robert Musante has taught over 25,000 lawyers in 39 states, including 11 offices of state attorneys general. A former University of California Trial Advocacy Lecturer and accomplished civil trial attorney, Mr. Musante has appeared as a legal commentator on national television and radio.

      Pricing:

      Both Days
      KCBA Member: $300
      Non-Member Attorney: $360
      Not an Attorney: 275

One Day Only (Oct 30 or Oct 31)
      KCBA Member: $169
