Title 26 Family Law GAL Registry Training

This is the mandatory training for initial application to Title 26 Family Law Guardian ad Litem Registries in King County and surrounding areas. The subject matter is also appropriate for family law attorneys, social workers, and anyone interested in issues related to children of divorce and the corresponding legal processes. Anyone may register whether or not Registry application is sought. Note: This is NOT the required training for Professional Guardianship, Title 13 Dependency GAL, Adoption GAL or Title 11 Guardianship GAL Registries.
For Successful Application to the Title 26 GAL Registry
Non-Attorneys are required to have:
Graduate level degree in social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, medicine or related field, with valid & current Washington State certification or licensure as applicable
PLUSeither of the following:
5 years full time experience (or equivalent number of hours) for master's degree level of education/licensure OR 2 years full time experience (or equivalent number of hours) for doctorate or MD level education/licensure
Attorneys are required to have:
Washington State Bar Association membership in good standing, AND 5 years experience in practice of law with at least 50% of that practice being in family law or dependency work.
