Home Base: The First Four Months

Last fall, KCBA joined with the Seattle Mariners and United Way of King County to launch Home Base. The goal of Home Base is to reduce the number of low-income people losing their homes through eviction — a leading cause of homelessness. 

Home Base provides legal advocacy through KCBA’s Housing Justice Project; makes flexible rent stabilization funds available to pay the gap in overdue rent; and offers ongoing support to prevent an individual or family from facing eviction again. 

The rent stabilization funds are administered by United Way. To date, $9.6 million of the $12-million dollar goal have been raised. The Mariners initiated this...
