I recently vacationed near the waterfront in downtown Seattle, and what stood out to me the most was the difference in sound. I work five blocks from the waterfront, but hardly any sound makes it through the insulated glass windows in my office — mostly sirens and the occasional protest march or parade.
Get a little closer to the water, though, and it’s a different world.
