From the Desk of the Presiding Judge: New Mandatory Arbitration Limits and Working on Timely Trials for Civil Cases

Last year, the Washington Legislature passed HB 1128 which amended RCW 7.06.020, allowing a county superior court to raise jurisdictional limits of mandatory arbitration to $100,000. The Legislature gave discretion to the counties to make the final decision, and so before our consideration, we asked the Washington State Association for Justice, Washington Defense Trial Lawyers, and the King County Bar Association Judiciary and Litigation sections for their views.
