Understanding and Adapting to a New Generation of Millennial Jurors

According to the Pew Research Center, millennials — the generation born roughly between 1982 and 1995 — are poised to surpass baby boomers as America’s largest generation. Projected to comprise approximately 60 percent of the voting-age population by 2020, millennials are no longer outliers who can be removed during jury selection — they are increasingly becoming the norm. For example, we looked at venire data from 18 civil trials in King County over the last three years in which we assisted with jury selection and found that almost one-third of those who showed up were millennials....
