2017 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon – Robinson Keynote Inspires 860 Lawyers and Judges

More than 860 guests celebrated a great leader’s legacy at KCBA’s Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon on January 13 at the Washington State Convention Center.

The guest speaker was Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post journalist and MSNBC contributor Eugene Robinson. In his remarks, Robinson recalled that as a 14-year-old he witnessed the Orangeburg Massacre from the front window of his family’s home in Orangeburg, South Carolina. This firsthand experience and Dr. King’s assassination less than two months later helped to shape his understanding of the Civil Rights Movement in 1968.
