Donald Trump recently renewed his war against free speech and the free press following the release of Michael Wolff’s scathing look at the first year of Trumpism: Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. Shortly after the book’s release, Trump issued a live statement during a Cabinet meeting in which — as he did during the presidential campaign when miffed about The New York Times’ reporting and threatened to sue the newspaper — he again called for a move to “open up the libel laws.”
