Every month the Gallup Poll asks, “In general, are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way things are going in the United States at this time?” And every month in recent years the answer overwhelmingly has been, “dissatisfied.”1
In September, only 25 percent of those asked were satisfied, 73 percent were dissatisfied and 2 percent had “no opinion” (who are these zombies?).
A Downward Trend
Not that the USA was any happier under presidents Bush or Obama. Dissatisfaction with life in America back then typically won by margins of 2 to 1 or more.
