The Housing Justice Project is proud to nominate Melia Smith as Volunteer of the Month for September. Smith volunteers as a legal assistant in HJP’s Seattle clinic providing support to volunteer attorneys, conducting intakes with clients, filing pleadings with the court, researching properties and handling other tasks to support the clinic.
She works with clients facing very difficult situations with patience and compassion. No matter how hectic the clinic gets, Smith keeps a calm demeanor. We asked Smith a few questions about her work as a KCBA volunteer and her personal interests.
