On June 24, 2022, in a 6-3 ruling, the United States Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade and its progeny, which provided almost 50 years of precedent. In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Supreme Court held that the Constitution does not provide a right to abortion care and upheld Mississippi’s 15-week pre-
viability abortion ban.
As expected, many states wasted no time moving to enforce bans to prohibit abortion access. The situation is rapidly evolving, but already abortion is unavailable in more than ten states.
