The academic school year has ended for most students, ushering the beginning of summer vacation and the enticing notion of throwing out all reading until autumn. However, I enjoy learning new content, especially in summer. This might have something to do with the curated summer reading lists that inevitably crop up during this time of year. I generally draft my own book lists based on others’ recommendations or my own interests. Lately, however, I’ve been inspired to add titles from genres that I don’t normally read so that I can explore new ideas, even if those ideas make me uncomfortable.
