When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, I was no stranger to uncertainty. Since my divorce about a decade earlier, I had pulled the plug on a marriage marred by financial infidelity, moved west from Minnesota to Washington with my four school-age children and little money, and started a law firm in Seattle where I barely knew a soul.

It sounds crazy even as I write it. But 10 years later, I have done what I set out to do: earn enough money to support myself and my kids from a family law and estate planning law firm I built from the ground up....
