Pure chance led my friend Hercule Poirot, formerly chief of the Belgian force — and darling of public broadcasting systems across the commonwealth — to be connected with the Reeves Case. As you know, I was wounded on the Somme and finally took up my quarters with Poirot; not in London, mind, but in fabulous Manchester.
