One of the hardest-working committees of the King County Bar is the Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee. Typically, this committee meets twice a month and evaluates two to three candidates at each meeting. These numbers increase in election years.
The committee evaluates candidates seeking appointment or election in all courts of limited jurisdiction in King County. Additionally, candidates involved in contested elections in these courts, as well as Division I of the Court of Appeals and the state Supreme Court, are evaluated by the committee, even if the candidate chooses not to participate in an evaluation.
