Before Washington State issued stay-at-home orders and courthouses closed their doors for the majority of citizens due to COVID-19, I had been thinking about the escalating security issues at the King County Courthouse on Third Avenue in downtown Seattle. For months, visitors and employees at the courthouse were regularly subjected to disturbing occurrences of harassment, violence, and other security hazards. When the courts all but shut down, the issue seemed less urgent.
