The Moderate Means Program: Affordable Services Representation

In King County, families are falling through a gap in legal services. For a family of two in King County, gross earnings between $33,000 and $66,0001 classify them as being of “moderate means,” or between 200% and 400% of the federal poverty guidelines (FPL). These are individuals and families who could not suddenly produce $400 if they needed one in an emergency. At least, not without sliding into debt. These are our friends and neighbors who are living paycheck to paycheck with significant debt. These middle-income people face the same legal issues as those under 200% of the FPL.
