Judicial Performance in Focus: 2020 Superior Court Survey Results

The King County Bar Association has completed its quadrennial survey of attorneys appearing in Superior Court and finds that despite a 40% turnover in judges, the performance of the entire bench has not seen a negative impact by the retirement of so many veteran judicial officers. Aggregate average scores in each of the four areas of judicial performance that KCBA looks at increased from the same scores issued in KCBA’s last survey in 2016.

Using a five-point rating system (5=excellent, 4=very good, 3=acceptable, 2=below expectations, 1=unacceptable), survey respondents gave an average 2020 score of 4.08 in legal decision-
making, up from a 2016 score...
